7 months old ~ Growing up too fast!

Here are some pictures of Logan at 7 months old & one of Logan & Alexa together.

It amazes me how fast time seems to be flying by! I am so thankful I have the privilege of being home for every moment of my children’s day ~ I honestly could not ask for anything more. When I think of all the things I missed out on with Alexa it pains me to know that I won’t ever get those moments back. I am so incredibly blessed to be able to be there for every first Logan has as well as see Alexa grow & learn so much each day right before my eyes. Its become all to real to me how quickly things change in the first few years of a child’s life.

Here’s a picture that shows Logan at 2 weeks old (11-6-10), at 5 weeks (11-27-10) and at 7 months old.
Logan

He has grown & changed so much in such a short time. I still can hardly believe he’s 7 months old already - I feel like if I blink he’ll be a year, running around & talking and that all just seems so unreal - he’s my baby after all!

I was watching Alexa & Logan play on the floor together (as they spend most of their days doing) when I witnessed something that will become all to common I’m afraid: Logan was sitting in a pile of his toys playing nicely. Alexa was a good 2 arms length (my arms) away from him playing with her mini doll house & toys. Logan apparently became bored with his own toys & wanted Alexa’s. So he leaned all the way down to the floor (he is WAY more flexible than I am) and stretched his little arm out & luckily for him Alexa had left a small toy chair within that reach. He snatched it up & began playing with it, proud of his accomplishment. Shortly after that Alexa realized he had it. “Mom! He has my chair!!!!” she tells me in a desperate sort of way as if her world had just come to and end.

After fixing the situation I began telling her that she needed to be careful from now on how close to him she’s playing with her toys with small parts (choking hazardous type toys) if she doesn’t want him to get them…and that’s when I realized it.

Everything would soon be changing! My easy, carefree way of having me-time (kids playing on the floor in front of me while I can do things on the computer or read my material for bible study, etc) was about to end. Logan will soon be MOBILE! My baby boy won’t be a little infant anymore. He’ll soon be crawling, then pulling up on things, and then walking! What will I do? (:S) I don’t think I’m ready for that yet! I have a feeling that, unlike Alexa who was content to stay put most of the time, Logan is going to want to chase after his sister & the dog constantly. Will I ever sit down again? Oh boy! Anybody have a pause button for life? I could sure use one right about now!

Ag Day - April 29, 2011
Despite it being a windy day (reason for the coat with flip flops) the kids had fun visiting Ag Day at Dordt this year. We were babysitting Alexa’s cousins - Faith & Luke so they came along too!

These two really love each other (at least most of the time) ;)

Mother’s Day ~ May 8, 2011

After dinner at my mom’s house to celebrate Mother’s Day & my brother-in-law Jason’s birthday, we stopped at the Schouten’s house for a little while. Kiley’s boy-friend, Sean was out for her graduation from Dordt & so was Great-Grandma Schouten. We all had fun watching Alexa play with balloons :)

Logan has been attempting to “crawl” towards toys he wants -- really he just rocks around on his belly while flapping his arms & legs as fast as he can :)

The other day we were leaving the house & I told Alexa she could go out & get in the car…when I walked out the door with Logan this is what I saw:

:) earlier that day she didn’t have quite as much energy:

and all she wanted to do was cuddle on the couch & “rest”

Fun Facts lately…

Here’s a few things Alexa & Logan have been up to lately.

Alexa:

* Loves to stay in her PJ’s as long as possible. She often begs to stay in the them all morning but thankfully she usually gets dressed by noon so that she’s not in her PJ’s when Daddy gets home for lunch!

* Loves PBS - Super Why, Curious George, and Word World are her favorites but if we let her she’d gladly spend all day playing in front of the TV watching PBS.

* She’s getting really good at the alphabet - she can identify all the letters wherever she sees them. She’s been working on the sounds of each letter and trying to read the words.

* She is getting very smart/talkative. Ask anyone who spends time with her - she talks their ears off! She constantly has a story to tell & has an incredibly overactive imagination.

* She LOVES telling stories, making up stories, and being the boss! Watch out if you play with her - she knows exactly what she wants you to do and is NOT afraid to tell you what to do. She loves being the “leader”

Logan:

* Started sitting up with only a little bit of help just before 6 months and after about 2 weeks he had it mastered. He sits up just fine now & only goes to the ground when he wants to be there!

* He has started showing interest in crawling! He doesn’t do any real crawling yet but he sees things outside his reach & he’ll lay on his belly & kick his legs like crazy while throwing his arms up & down wildly. He even sticks his bum in the air & tries to rock on his legs.

* He finally started consistently rolling from his belly to his back (which he did for the first real time the first week of April) about the middle of April. The only problem with that is he rolls from his belly to his back during the night & then wakes up screaming because he doesn’t like to sleep on his back!

* He is babbling all the time! Now if only we knew what he was saying!

* He LOVES to stick his tongue out & blow bubbles/spit (making that motor sound)

* He still sleeps through most of church but because of the motor sound he constantly makes he’s gone to the nursery twice already!

* His favorite thing is for someone to hold him while he stands anywhere, anytime

* He has been eating us out of house & home! If there’s a table food he can have we’ve been giving it to him! He’ll eat his baby food (which I’ve been attempting to make all of it myself) and then he’ll still beg for anything & everything we are eating!
