Family Picture Favorites
On Saturday we had my sister take our family photo as well as having her taken Logan’s 9 month & Alexa’s 3 year old pictures - it was a lot of fun and we had way too many great pictures to choose from! Here are our favorites (as you can tell it wasn’t easy getting all of us to look at the same time, especially with the wind):

Family Vacation 2011
We decided to take a small family vacation this year to try & save up for a big trip either later this year or early next year to visit Coby & Kris. So we rented a cabin at Lake Pahoja - just 45 minutes from our house.
We went up on Monday afternoon & came home Thursday morning. Despite a rainy and stormy forecast we actually had perfect weather and spent most days fishing or relaxing in the sun! Of course it wouldn’t be a vacation if we didn’t hit road construction on the trip -- we were glad we weren’t going very far because we already hit road work zones only 5 minutes from our house!
Monday afternoon we got settled in the cabin & went for a walk to explore the campground. Then we took the kids swimming in the lake. Despite being a little green we had a lot of fun!

Tuesday morning it was lightly sprinkling out so we decided to head to Sioux Falls and do a little shopping & eat a nice lunch. Alexa got a large 1/2 & 1/2 cookie for her dessert :)
On the way back to the cabin we stopped & checked out the Big Sioux River by Klondike, IA ~ the water was moving really fast & it was obvious that it was extremely high & flooded in areas!
Tuesday evening Grandpa & Grandma Schouten, Aunt Kiley, Aunt Jena, Uncle Eric and Aunt Bobbie and Cousin Sophia drove up and joined us for supper. Grandpa even rented paddle boats and according to Alexa we had a race that her team, team blue, won! :) Those boats are a lot more of a workout than I certainly ever imagined ~ good thing Kiley & Grandpa have legs of steel!
Wednesday was a gorgeous day! The weather was slightly cooler but sunny & pretty. We first all went for a walk to the playground area but it was too wet to really play on it. Then Daddy & Alexa went fishing all morning while Logan napped & Mommy relaxed.
Alexa loved catching fish ~ she even reeled them in on her own! :)
On Wednesday night we even ran into some friends who were camping there too & we spent a while chatting with them by their fire.
Overall we had a fabulous vacation! It was great to get away for a few days & to have Daddy all to ourselves - no computer, tv, phone, lawns to be mowed, no motorcycle to ride, just us hanging out as a family ~ if we ever do it again you’re all welcome to stop by & see us!
