A MOUSE in MY house!

EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

I think I need to move! Seriously! I was babysitting my nephew yesterday & when I went to put him down for a nap I thought he’d sleep the best in the king bed in our basement. I happened to be carrying him down & when I walked into the basement bedroom (which we hardly go in unless we’re getting it ready for guests) I started to set him down on the bed when I saw it. At first I thought it was a toy. A fake stuffed animal. A prank. A joke my husband might have played on me or a forgotten toy my children had left there by accident. As I bent over to get a closer look (my eyes aren’t so good) I saw the whiskers on its little face & I knew. I held Luke as tight as I could, took a deep breath, turned around and ran from the room and the basement.

I put Luke down for his nap in my bedroom & immediately called Micah. After freaking out on the phone to him (while he acted like I was crazy) I decided maybe I had imagined it all. So I went down for a second look (secretly hoping it was gone, although part of me feared it would be because that might have meant it was still alive!)  It was still there. If it wasn’t a rodent laying on my guest bed I might have thought it was sort of cute, after all it just looked like it had crawled up there for a nap. However, that was my guest bed! In MY HOUSE! EWWW! I am fairly certain that this warrants a move. I know I can be extreme and all but isn’t there a saying or something about how if there’s one tiny mouse there’s probably more?

On a side note, you would think that with the neighbor’s ANNOYING 15-20 cats & kittens that are CONSTANTLY spending their entire days in my garage, yard, and on my porch that one of them would have stopped this rodent from entering my house…but of course as I’ve always thought, cats/kittens are absolutely no help & are good for nothing!

Enjoying the Fall Season

We’ve had amazingly warm weather for the last few weeks and although I am a lover of the perfect fall temps (right around 70 degrees) its been nice to have the summer wardrobe last a little bit longer for the kids! Other than about a week of colder temps (50’s & 60’s) we’ve really had mostly 80’s these days.

Both Alexa & Logan appear to be growing up by leaps & bounds! Its hard to believe in only 9 days Logan will be 1 already! This time last year I was spending all my time laying on the couch miserable waiting for his arrival while Alexa was shipped from one place to another as I wasn’t even allowed to get up & help her with anything. Amazing how fast time flies & how quickly things change!

Here are some pictures I’ve snapped over the last few weeks.

Pumpkinland & Pumpkins :)

A group of friends decided to plan a trip to Pumpkinland by Orange City for the kids (and for the mom’s.) :)

The kids had loads of fun playing in the playhouses and on the “playground” equipment. They all seemed to enjoy watching and feeding the animals and going through the corn maze too. We were even able to take a few pictures of most of the kids before enjoying a picnic lunch. All together we had a fun morning with our friends! Logan was absolutely amazing as he sat nicely in his stroller the entire time and never whined or asked to get out at all!

After pumpkinland we met Auntie Bobbie, cousin Sophie, and Grandma Schouten at Grandpa’s pumpkin patch where we took a few pictures before picking out a pumpkin for the kids. As you can see from the pictures below, Logan was a little more interested in the pumpkins than the pictures. :) It was a great way to spend a beautiful fall day!

Lately…

Life has seemed busy! We’ve had play dates in the park, we’ve helped Daddy take the old porch railing off & put up a new one, we’ve saved Patches from the mean, awful scary neighbor dog, we’ve gone to Aunt Jill’s volleyball games, played at home, played with our cousins and friends, celebrated Daddy’s birthday, celebrated a friend’s birthday, gone to the Harvest Festival and alumni weekend activities, and just had some plain old fun family time!

We’ve had to resort to every method of “baby gates” we can come up with to stop Logan’s exploring… stairs seem to be his favorite activity :(
