A MOUSE in MY house!

EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

I think I need to move! Seriously! I was babysitting my nephew yesterday & when I went to put him down for a nap I thought he’d sleep the best in the king bed in our basement. I happened to be carrying him down & when I walked into the basement bedroom (which we hardly go in unless we’re getting it ready for guests) I started to set him down on the bed when I saw it. At first I thought it was a toy. A fake stuffed animal. A prank. A joke my husband might have played on me or a forgotten toy my children had left there by accident. As I bent over to get a closer look (my eyes aren’t so good) I saw the whiskers on its little face & I knew. I held Luke as tight as I could, took a deep breath, turned around and ran from the room and the basement.

I put Luke down for his nap in my bedroom & immediately called Micah. After freaking out on the phone to him (while he acted like I was crazy) I decided maybe I had imagined it all. So I went down for a second look (secretly hoping it was gone, although part of me feared it would be because that might have meant it was still alive!)  It was still there. If it wasn’t a rodent laying on my guest bed I might have thought it was sort of cute, after all it just looked like it had crawled up there for a nap. However, that was my guest bed! In MY HOUSE! EWWW! I am fairly certain that this warrants a move. I know I can be extreme and all but isn’t there a saying or something about how if there’s one tiny mouse there’s probably more?

On a side note, you would think that with the neighbor’s ANNOYING 15-20 cats & kittens that are CONSTANTLY spending their entire days in my garage, yard, and on my porch that one of them would have stopped this rodent from entering my house…but of course as I’ve always thought, cats/kittens are absolutely no help & are good for nothing!

  1. Caryn... I've come to defend the kitty kingdom. I am a huge cat lover. They were pretty much my best friends growing up on a farm so this breaks my heart to hear you say such things about them!!! :)

  2. haha...sorry! Being a non-farm girl I never knew there was a real purpose for cats...now I know they're very useful for catching mice...at least they're supposed to be...

And on a side note -- I do not mind cats in general, from a distance, or in short intervals...but having cats that are NOT mine constantly getting into my stuff (they've been known to destroy our food during bbq's and parties & such) and to have them around when my friends who are severly allergic are around...then I find them annoying :)

I'm sure your cats are awesome & adorable & precious though :)
