To California we go…

WE MADE IT!!!

Our adventure to California began on a SNOWY, windy day in January where we left the house and trekked towards Sioux Falls airport despite hardly being able to see the road half the time and despite a falling blanket of snow coming at us! After spending an hour and a half driving, we finally arrived, parked the car, and began the enormous trek into the airport, through security, and to our gate carrying our luggage, two awkward shaped car seats, a purse, a diaper bag, and two semi-whinny children.

Upon arrival at our gate we soon realized our 9:10pm scheduled departure was at least a half-hour delayed. After spending 2+ hours waiting at the gate(the plane we were supposed to take didn’t show up until 9:15) our plane finally arrived and we were allowed to board. We sat on the plane for approximately 45 minutes before we took off to the sky ... or in Alexa's words 5,4,3,2,...1 BLAST OFF! (yes she said this to us on the plane!) :)

Despite the fact that his bedtime is typically 7pm and despite the hour plus delay to take off and the three hour flight time, Logan decided and declared rather loudly to the plane that he had NO intention of sleeping during the flight...making it difficult for any of us to sleep! :( Finally after many tears (mine & Logan's & Alexa's) Logan gave in and dozed off with Daddy and Alexa about 40 minutes before we landed at LAX.

We landed in LA around 11:55pm (1:55 our time back home) and thankfully caught a shuttle to our car rental spot fairly quickly. After a quick check-in process and choosing our car we were on our way! Then began the 3 hour car ride to Tulare. That surprisingly was the best part of the trip -- Logan slept and Alexa even gave in and dozed off for over half the drive. We even were blessed with light traffic and good weather (other than some light rain just before reaching Tulare). We arrived at Kris & Coby's house around 3:30 am (5:30am back home).

Needless to say, after basically staying up all night we were all exhausted & slept very well that night! Now it was time to enjoy the rest of our vacation...and hopefully catch up on some more sleep!
