Alexa & Logan’s latest facts

Here’s a little update on what both Alexa and Logan are up to these days:CIMG00413-20-2011

Alexa has developed a love for cartoons and PBS is a staple in our house! I know some might argue that TV isn’t good for children & for the most part I’d probably agree. But I truly think PBS is helping her learn. I’m not the best at knowing how to explain things in ways others can understand and between Super Why & Word World she’s learned how to recognize the entire alphabet as well as learning what sound each letter makes. We spend a lot of time in her books not only reading them to her but also sounding out the words & she loves trying to read her books on her own.

She is fascinated with school and talks constantly about how she gets to go to Sunday School when she turns 3!

Lately instead of just praying the prayer we taught her she has begun to ad-lib and say her own prayers as well. Its amazing to hear how her mind works and it can also be rather cute, we typically end up praying for the weather at least 3 times in a prayer ~ apparently she wants spring/summer weather to come soon too!

She loves to sing in church and has learned a couple of the doxologies to sing with us. After every meal we have to sing at least one of those songs and say Psalm 23 before we can pray. A few weeks ago the doxology changed again (we keep the same one for a couple months in order to help kids learn them) and Alexa was rather upset that we didn’t sing “Praise God” at the end of church!CIMG0036CIMG0038

Logan had been sleeping from about 9-9:30 each night until between 7:30-8 in the morning before he got sick. Then while he was sick he was up at all hours and I was scared that would become his new normal. However, the last 2 weeks he has been spoiling me! He goes to bed anywhere between 7:30 & 8:30 most nights & sleeps past 9am…there have even been a few mornings where we’ve had to be someplace and I have had to wake him up around 9:15 because he is still sleeping!

He loves to talk and babbles constantly. He is rather generous with his smiles and loves to giggle and coo at people who will pay attention to him. He loves to stand on his legs and will stand up for quite a while if someone will let him! His saucer is by far his favorite place to play. He has a kangaroo toy that has teething toys on it & he just loves to chew on it.

He had a hard, white tooth poke thru his bottom gum around 3 months but after sticking around for about 2 weeks either the gum swelled up or something because one day it was suddenly gone! He however, continues to suck on his fingers and drool like crazy so who knows, even the dr was confused by it!

He has had no desire to roll over so far. If we lay him on his tummy he’ll just prop himself up and talk and play or he’ll simply just lay down and take a nap! He loves bath time and will sit, splash, and kick in the water for as long as you’ll let him. He especially loves to play with his toes in the water, something he hardly does throughout the day because its too hard to reach his toes over his big belly! :)

He started to eat cereal (rice & oatmeal) at about 3 months old and was loving it. So this past week we started on other foods. I made homemade baby food for him. So far he loves the peas and has even had some applesauce too. Anytime anyone around him is eating food he just stares at them in amazement and even will let out a whine or two to try and get people to give him food!

Logan has also started to play the grab and drop games. He tries to grab everything within his reach. He also loves to see how many times he can drop his toys before people (usually Alexa) will stop bringing it back to him!

It truly is amazing to watch both Logan and Alexa grow each day. Its amazing how they change so fast! I feel truly blessed to be able to spend each day watching them grow and learn.
